At UCM Lee’s Summit, you can prepare for in-demand professions in fields such as nursing, engineering, health sciences, cybersecurity and computer science. The MIC provides access to state-of-the-art technology and facilities, guided by highly qualified faculty and experienced professionals.
Using simulation dummies, nursing students work in real-life, hands-on scenarios that provide an incredibly realistic health care experience. The simulations assist with applied learning activities, including pre- and post-natal care.

The Counseling Suite at the MIC is designed to emulate a professional therapist’s office, providing students with a real-world clinical experience. With a play therapy room and two individual counseling rooms, each space can be viewed from the classroom via a one-way mirror and each session can be recorded for peer review.
The MIC is also home to the Extended Reality (XR) Studio, a dedicated space for students, educators and industry innovators to explore cutting-edge technologies.
Examples of XR include 360 videos, panoramic 360 scenes, 2D/3D models and virtual reality (VR) augmented reality (AR) education apps.

Collaboration is key at the MIC, and that is evident through the Learning Commons and the Student Services Center. In the Learning Commons, students can gather to share information and experiences in a modern work environment or get help on research projects from the MIC librarian. Administrative and support staff in the Student Services Center are also available to offer support and guidance to students. |
Founded in 2012, the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) Program is a groundbreaking partnership between the University of Central Missouri, the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, Metropolitan Community College and more than 70 Kansas City-area businesses.
If you are a high school student, you can get a head start on your future.
