The establishment of a 3+1+1 agreement with Hengshui University (HSU) in China is creating new educational pathways for students overseas to earn a University of Central Missouri (UCM) degree while also paving the way for faculty members to become visiting lecturers on each campus.
January 18, 2022Members of the United States Air Force who want to further their education have two new pathways to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Safety and Risk Management (ESRM) from the University of Central Missouri. These opportunities are made possible through UCM’s selection as a partner in the Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) with the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).
January 14, 2022The University of Central Missouri and Whiteman Air Force Base recently approved an agreement that will bring UCM’s industry-recognized certificate courses to military-connected students as well as military spouses. The courses are designed to provide a convenient method for adult learners to take courses at the Whiteman AFB.
January 14, 2022In an event that kicked off the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, annual Community Service Awards named for King were presented during a luncheon conducted by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce at Matthews-Crawford American Legion Post 131. University of Central Missouri Professor Emerita of Business and Social Enterprise Dr. Mary McCord was one of two individuals honored during the brief award ceremony on Jan. 12, which was presented with the theme “Living the Dream: Live and In Color.”
January 12, 2022While the challenge of getting into college can be stressful, additional anxiety often accompanies a decision overload with students pondering which degree to pursue, and what they want to do with it once they graduate. Through initiatives that have been shared with educators across the United States, the University of Central Missouri is helping students tackle these tough decisions and more by incorporating design thinking principles into the student experience. The result of such efforts at UCM is a range of new opportunities from career readiness courses and learning facility upgrades to presentations that introduce this model for solving what researchers have called the “wicked problems” individuals may face in education, life and in making decisions about careers.

The gift of $1 million will fund the renovation of a gymnasium in the 53-year-old Lovinger Building into a state-of-the-art mixed-use educational facility.
January 10, 2022With the 2022 theme, “Living the Dream: Live and in Color,” the University of Central Missouri in January will host a variety of special events on campus and in cooperation with local organizations to honor the legacy of civil rights leader and humanitarian Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Freedom Scholarship Fundraiser, Community Praise and Worship Service, and the annual Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce Community Service Awards Luncheon are among these special events, in addition to other opportunities at UCM’s Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit campuses.
January 07, 2022As a way to celebrate the legacy of a great civil rights leader and the relationship between the University of Central Missouri and members of the Hispanic and Latino communities in the Kansas City metropolitan area, UCM honored 2021 and 2020 student recipients of Cesar E. Chavez Scholarships during the fall 2021 semester. Kansas City area students who want to further their education through this scholarship are being encouraged to apply for 2022 awards by Feb. 1.

He will begin serving a three-year term in January. Other new members joining the non-profit organization’s board this winter are Beth Rosemergey and Jason Snodgrass.

The event, UCM 150 Celebration Team Challenge, charged a group of students and faculty with the opportunity to simulate traveling 150 miles in 150 minutes with human power.
